From roaming client to Secure Client

The standalone Umbrella roaming client has been replaced by the Umbrella roaming security module within Cisco Secure Client, formerly AnyConnect. If you still run the legacy client, plan a move.

What it does

  • Sends DNS queries to Umbrella from any network
  • With SIG, forwards web traffic to the secure web gateway
  • Identifies the user and device for policy and reporting
  • Works alongside VPN

Deployment

Deploy with Intune, Group Policy or your RMM tool. We package, test and roll it out for you.

Frequently asked questions

Does the roaming client work on macOS?

Yes. The Secure Client roaming module supports Windows and macOS, and there are options for mobile devices.

Do I need the roaming client if I only have office users?

Not necessarily; network-level DNS forwarding may be enough. Most organisations with laptops deploy it.
